Kottey Outside is a series of plateaus, with a steep drop off. Large swells and strong currents mean that it’s not always easy to dive. On the west side, the upper plateau is between 8 and 15 metres; the deeper one slopes gently from 23m to 30 metres, then drops off to well over 30 metres. Further round to the west there is a sandy bottom at around 30 metres where you can often find sting rays and white-tip reef sharks. The northern part is easier to dive, with the top of the reef between 8 and 10 metres, then dropping to around 18 metres as you get closer to the corner, but still be aware of currents that can drag you away from the reef, especially near the corner.
